to grasp observation ability of sensors

Earth Observation satellite project takes at least 5 years to make plans and launch. In the case of a big project, it takes 10 years long.
At the initial stage of this preparation period, decisions are made on how accurately and how often observing objects are observed, and sensors are practically selected. In this work, they load small size sensors to platform of an airplane and perform an observation experimentally and do sensitivity tests by using radiative transfer programs.
Recently by setting virtual Earth and virtual sensors on a computer, it is able to make simulation pictures showing observation from the cosmic space.
From these works we can make sure sensor observation ability with high accuracy before launching satellites.

In our research projects we perform sensitivity tests of future sensors by using radiative transfer programs and observation simulations by the virtual earth and the virtual sensors. Sensitivity tests give us a lot of scientific knowledge.
By large-scale simulations, we can make End-to-End tests of analysis system before launching the satellites.
